Wireless Network Authentication

Illinois Wesleyan provides secure wireless networking in selected locations on campus. In order to use the University wireless network, members of the campus community must log-in to the network using their NetID and password. Windows users will need to install software in order to use the wireless network.

Please follow the instructions below to configure your computer to use the campus wireless network. If you need assistance please contact the Information Technology Help Desk at 309-556-3900 or http://help.iwu.edu/ (web link is on-campus only)

Macintosh

• Installation Directions (pdf) for Mac OSX version 10.4, also known as Tiger

Windows 2000/XP

Step One: Download and install the Secure Wireless software:

• Download the IWU Wireless installer file to your computer.
• Run the installer file (IWUwireless.exe). This will create a folder on your computer called "IWUwireless".

• Open the IWUWireless folder and double-click the Windows XP installer file (WindowsXP_3.2.0.exe).
• Proceed through the installation prompts.
  • Choose a Language (click OK)
  • Click Next
  • Choose "I Agree" to accept the license agreement
  • Click Install to complete the process

• The final prompt will require a reboot of your computer.

Step Two: Configure your wireless connection and connect:
(You will need to be in an IWU wireless location)

• Open the Windows Control Panel and double-click on Network Connections.
• Right-click on your Wireless Network Connection and select Properties.

• Select "IWU Secure" from the list of available wireless networks and click the Properties button.

• Select the "Authentication" tab and click the Properties button. Choose "SecureW2 TTLS" from the EAP type drop-down menu.

• Click the Profile drop-down menu and select "IWU Secure Wireless Network".

• Click OK on all open configuration windows.
• If you are in an IWU wireless location you will see a wireless connection notification.

• Click on the notification bubble.

• Enter your Illinois Wesleyan Net ID and password.

Windows Vista

Step One: Download and install the Secure Wireless software:

• Download the IWU Wireless installer file to your computer.
  
• Run the installer file (IWUwireless.exe). This will create a folder on your computer called "IWUwireless".

• Open the IWUWireless folder and double-click the Windows Vista installer file (WindowsVista_3.2.0.exe).
  
• Proceed through the installation prompts.
  • Choose a Language (click OK)
  • Click Next
  • Choose "I Agree" to accept the license agreement
  • Click Install to complete the process

• The final prompt will require a reboot of your computer.

Step Two: Connect to the wireless network:
(You will need to be in an IWU wireless location)

• If you are in an Illinois Wesleyan wireless location you will see a wireless connection notification.

• Click on the notification bubble.

• Enter your Illinois Wesleyan Net ID and password.
