Fraternity and Sorority Residences

Illinois Wesleyan is a residential college, where campus life is an integral part of the educational experience. More than 80% of IWU students, including those in fraternities and sororities, live on campus.

The university's residence halls offer interesting living environments, ranging from large, high rise structures housing up to 200 students to historic homes which have been converted to residences. Students live and interact in an atmosphere designed to enhance their intellectual, social and cultural awareness, and build friendships that often last a lifetime.

There are also twelve Greek-letter social or professional organizations with residential chapters housed either in university-owned residences or in living units they provide for their members on campus, or nearby. About one-quarter of IWU students are members of national Greek-letter social chapters.

Each residence hall and Greek-letter residential chapter establishes its own organization to help develop policies, regulations and programs. These bodies are governed by the Residence Hall Association, the Interfraternity Council or Panhellenic Council. Overall administration is provided through the Office of Residential Life and the Dean of Students.

Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity House, is a university owned residence that currently houses Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, was remodeled in 2000 and houses up to 40 students. (1601 N. Franklin Avenue)
Phi Mu Alpha Fraternity House, a non-university owned residence, can accommodate up to 20 members in a three-story brick house. (303 E. Chestnut Street)
Sigma Alpha Iota Sorority House, a non-university owned residence, houses up to 20 members in a three-story brick house. (307 E. Chestnut Street)
