Costs
To qualify for a student visa, international students must prove adequate financial support for the first year of studies. Students must also demonstrate a reasonable expectation of continued support, without recourse to employment while in the U.S., for the duration of their academic programs. Due to the limited resources available for international students, the International Admissions Committee must consider the students’ ability to finance their education when evaluating applications from students who are neither U.S. citizens nor permanent residents. Therefore, it is in the applicant’s best interest to be honest about his or her family’s ability to pay, including the exact amount the family is able to contribute to an Illinois Wesleyan education. Failure to do so may jeopardize a student’s chances of admission to the University.
The balance due for University charges must be paid in full before the beginning of the fall and spring semesters in order to attend classes.
The projected budget for an international student to attend Illinois Wesleyan University for the 2008-2009 academic year is as follows:
| Tuition (1 year, full-time) | $32,260.00 |
| Room (double occupancy) | $4,570.00 |
| Board (meal plan/19 meals per week) | $2,980.00 |
| Student Fees | $204.00 |
| IWU Medical Insurance (mandatory) | $750.00 (approx.) |
| Incidentals / Miscellaneous | $1,430.00 |
| Projected Total (first full year) | $42,194.00 |
