"Lesson XLI; Nurture", 12" x 9", Computer graphics print, 1998

    This illustration was inspired by an intriguing series of books found at an estate sale - 1880 Student Serious Second and Third Readers which contain short stories of values-beauty, materialism, work ethic, and responsibility. I have used visual metaphors with the actual lessons to build three dimensional assemblages which are then used to complete computer graphic illustrations. In both media I'm challenged to create a mysterious tone through sensuous lighting and the use of ephemeral objects.
