The Argus

    The Argus, which has been published weekly since 1894 without interruption, is one of the longest continually published college newspapers in America. As a member of The Illinois College Press Association, The Argus has placed among the top three Illinois college newspapers in its class for 11 of the last 18 years, a tradition of excellence that continues with each new staff. The Argus is totally student-run, with James Plath serving as faculty advisor and offering weekly critiques of each issue since 1988. Tributaries

   Tributaries is Illinois Wesleyan University's Journal of the Fine Arts.  Completely run by students, Tributaries publishes student work in prose, poetry, and art and often puts student musical compositions on their web site.  This semi-annual journal appears at the end of each semester. In late winter, the staff of Tributaries also hosts an annual writing conference for undergraduate students called Tongue & Ink. To see the publication online or to find more information on the publication and conference,  check out the Tributaries web site or email the staff.

The Tatler

    The Tatler is the English Department's semi-annual newsletter.  Dr. Lynn DeVore supervises the production of the Tatler along with a team of student contributors.  View the latest issue or email Dr. DeVore to become part of his staff.

The Delta

The Delta is the English Department’s annual academic journal. It is published every spring and contains a selection of high quality student English papers from the previous calendar year. Any paper written for an Illinois Wesleyan University English class may be submitted, and selection and layout for the journal are done by a board of English majors and minors. Illinois Wesleyan University  Magazine

    The Illinois Wesleyan University Magazine is published quarterly by the Office of University Communications, which often employs English students.  Student workers in University Communications have the opportunity to write news stories for both the magazine and Illinois Wesleyan's web site. Small Independent Publications

    None of these publications sound interesting to you?  Perhaps you can create your own.  In the past, IWU's English students have been known to create their own 'zines for class projects, to raise awareness on important issues,  or just for fun.  Past independent 'zine titles include: Catholic, The Whisper and the Roar, Stuff, and Porch Swing.
