  • Participate in the annual dumpster dive
  • Default public printers to the double-sided mode
  • Shut down the computers, monitors, and printers at night
  • Staff orientation regarding individual ways that employees can consider sustainability, such as leaving office lights off in the day time and using recycled printer paper from the printers around the library for in house printing
  • Eliminating excess black when preparing electronic reserves. Extra black requires unnecessary amounts of toner/ink.
  • Monitors in the public area utilize power management features; power saving mode is enabled after 30 minutes of inactivity
  • All printers in the building also utilize power management features; power saving mode is enabled after 30 minutes of inactivity
  • The Library shuts down the Instruction lab, Project rooms, and half of the computers at Scholarly Workstations and in the Information Commons for the summer and during Winter break in order to reduce energy consumption
