In today's global society knowledge of foreign languages and cultures is a necessary bridge to understanding human diversity. Spanish is one of the ten most widely spoken languages in the world and is also an important domestic language. The Department of Hispanic Studies at Illinois Wesleyan University introduces students to the Spanish language as it is spoken all over the world, in Spain and in the Americas. In addition to language and linguistics at all levels, our program offers study in literature and cultural history.
