On sabbatical leave from  August 1, 2007 - July 31, 2008

During my sabbatical, I will be learning about library practices in other countries through the Mortenson Center for International Library Programs and the Fulbright Senior Specialist Program.  Working with librarians in and from other countries will enable me to share my expertise while gaining insight into their approaches and traditions in library science.  Also during my leave, I will investigate trends in scholarly communication for select social science disciplines and review instructional design principles, deliberating on ways to enhance the teaching I do as part of instruction in research skills and information literacy.  Anticipated outcomes for my leave include presentations at the Association of College and Research Libraries' biennial conference, publications in venues such as International Leads or College and Undergraduate Libraries, and enhanced liaison services for IWU faculty and students upon my return.
