March 6 – May 1, 2007

Articles and books written by IWU faculty rotate through this display case throughout the academic year.  Major faculty publications in book and non-book formats are permanently transferred to the University Archives following their display and additional copies are purchased for the library’s circulating collection.

The Bureau of American Ethnography Field Collection Reports

John Wesley Powell Rotunda

May 1 – June 30, 2007

The books in this exhibit provide insights into the field work accomplished by BAE teams throughout the Americas beginning in the late 19th Century.  Artifacts and information such as the pottery and basketry items displayed in the rotunda were shipped to Washington, DC’s National Museum (now part of The Smithsonian Institution).  Field notes and artifact inventories were compiled into published reports submitted annually to Congress.
