In addition to datasets, ICPSR has a “Bibliography of Data-Related Literature”, a searchable database that contains over 34,000 citations of known published and unpublished works resulting from analyses of data held in the ICPSR archive. The bibliography represents over 40 years of scholarship in the quantitative social sciences, extending from the inception of ICPSR in 1962 to the present.

This database of literature is now linked to our software; thus, when searching in this database, by clicking on the button the user will be directed to the full-text version of the chosen item, and/or given the print location of the item. If the item is not available in print or online the user will have the option of requesting the item via ILLIAD.

Downloading assistance:

IWU faculty, staff and students may download data directly after creating a user account.  ICPSR provides files in multiple formats, including SPSS portable and SPSS syntax versions.  If SPSS portable is available, choosing this will enable you to import the data file with minimal complications.  For data files accompanied by an SPSS syntax file, please see the following help file.  If you need further assistance, please contact Lynda Duke (x3220) or Kristin Vogel (x3576).  ICPSR provides tutorials on downloading and using datasets at http://www.icprs.org/help/newuser.html.
