May I save or print items in the Electronic Collection?

You may use reserve items as you see fit, as long as you abide by the Copyright laws (posted with to each course page).

We recommend you consider environmental issues, including paper and toner consumption prior to printing.

Are materials in the Electronic Collection also available at the Circulation desk?

Given the reliability of the system and the large number of items available in the Electronic Collection, we do not retain physical copies of the items.

Contact the Information Services Desk if you are having trouble accessing the Electronic Collection.

When will electronic reserve materials be available?

As with the Traditional Collection, this varies. Every attempt is made to have items available in time for scheduled assignments.

At the beginning of the semester, when many materials are being placed on reserve at once, a two-week lead time is recommended. During the semester, this lead time can be reduced to between 3 and 5 working days. Items currently in electronic format and web links can be added much more quickly than documents that have to be scanned.

We do our best to accommodate last minute requests, but late submissions may not be available for your classes.

Can anyone use Electronic Reserves?

Only those students, faculty and staff who are using a computer with an IWU address or who dial-in to campus through the Illinois Wesleyan University modem pool will be allowed access.

If you are a member of the IWU community and would like to access Electronic Reserves from off-campus, you may do so by following these instructions.

Students attempting to dial-in using a commercial internet provider or from another college location will be denied access.

Copyrighted material will be restricted to those students who enter a password (provided by the instructors) and a copyright notice will accompany each entrance into ERes.

How do I get Adobe Reader on my own computer so I can view the item I want from the Electronic Collection?

Go to Adobe's website.

Fill out system information for your computer, name and email address.

You will be directed to a download site for the Reader version appropriate to your system configurations.

Follow the instructions on your screen to download the file, taking note of the name and location where the file will be saved on your own computer.

After the download is complete, locate and double-click the newly downloaded file.

Follow installation instructions on your screen.

The installation procedure will ask you to read and accept the Electronic End-User License Agreement.

Once the Reader has been installed, it will automatically launch every time you open a Portable Document Format (PDF) file.
