Mellon Center

The purpose of the Andrew W. Mellon Center for Faculty and Curriculum Development (The Mellon Center) is to provide the facilities, programs, and resources necessary to support the Illinois Wesleyan faculty's work as teachers, scholars, and curriculum developers. Operating independently, apart from any evaluation system, the Center promotes self-reflection and the sharing of views and experiences among faculty, particularly on the theory and practice of teaching, course development, and academic program design.

The Center's activities are coordinated by Frank Boyd,  the Associate Dean of the Faculty, who is advised by a group consisting of the Chair of the Curriculum Development Committee, the Chair of the Faculty Development Committee, the Director of General Education, the May Term Director, two faculty members appointed by the Nominating Committee, and the Provost (ex officio).

The Center houses the all-university programs for Assessment, General Education and May Term.

Forms related to faculty professional development funds, internal grants and leaves, and curriculum council requests are processed through the Mellon Center.  For questions about any of these forms, please contact Jenny Hand at x3760.
