IWU Places Five on All-Region Baseball Team

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - - Seniors Nick Chilczenkowski and Dave Dobosz were named to the first team of the 2006 American Baseball Coaches Association all-Central Region baseball team and three of their Illinois Wesleyan teammates earned other all-region honors.
Senior outfielder Joe Howard was chosen to the second team and sophomore second baseman Ricky Angel and freshman third baseman Rob Cummings were elected to the third team.
Chilczenkowski (LaFox, Geneva HS) led the 2006 Titans with seven home runs, 15 doubles, 49 runs batted in and with a .423 batting average, the seventh best in an IWU season.  His 66 hits is the fourth most in an IWU season.
Dobosz (Lombard, Glenbard West HS) led the Titans with a 9-1 record and a 1.36 earned run average, the third best in an IWU season. He struck out 35 and walked 12 in 72 2/3 innings. His nine wins is tied for second most in a season at IWU.
Howard (Downers Grove, Montini HS) batted .356 with 13 doubles, six homers and was second on the team with 46 RBI.
Angel (Glen Ellyn, Glenbard West HS) hit .370 with 10 doubles, five home runs, and 35 runs batted in while scoring 42 times. His 61 hits is 10th most in an IWU season and, after two years, Angel has a career .359 batting average, which is No. 10 all-time at IWU for those who have played two or more seasons.
Cummings (Oak Lawn, St. Rita HS) batted .372 with eight doubles, six homers and 30 RBI and set a school record when he got six hits at Monmouth on April 18.
The Titans were 28-14 overall and 14-7 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, good for third place. IWU finished second in the CCIW tournament.
