More Baseball Honors for Angel, Aronson

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - - More baseball honors have been bestowed on Illinois Wesleyan University junior second baseman Ricky Angel and sophomore lefthanded pitcher Matt Aronson.
Angel was named to the first team of the D3baseball.com All-American team while Aronson was chosen to the second team. Both were chosen to the first team of the American Baseball Coaches Association Central Region squad while senior pitchers Robert Inzinga and Travis Myers were third team all-region choices.
Angel (Glen Ellyn, Glenbard West HS), a first team all-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin selection, batted .452, tied for 14th in the national Division III statistics through May 20 and the third best in an IWU season.
He had a school-record 75 hits, 10 home runs and his 19 doubles and 54 runs batted in is second most in an IWU season. He had a .771 slugging percentage, ninth best in Division III, and scored 40 runs.
Aronson (LaGrange, St. Ignatius HS), who was also a first team all-CCIW pick, was 8-0 with an earned run average of 0.85, second best in Division III this season and an IWU record. He had 70 strikeouts, fourth best in a Titan season.
Inzinga (Glen Ellyn, Glenbard West HS) was 6-3 overall and posted a 2.86 ERA.
Myers (Lake Forest HS) tied for 11th in the nation with seven saves, all in CCIW games. Overall he had a 3-1 record with a 1.72 earned run average. His 24 appearances was a school season record and he was second with the seven saves.
The Titans were 32-13 overall and advanced to the NCAA Division III regional for the third time in the last four years. IWU set a league wins record in going 20-1 to take the CCIW regular season title.
