Six Titans Earn All-American Honors in National Track Meet

Rachel Anderson (Clinton, Ill. HS) – 200, 400

Segun Olopo (Chicago, Brooks School) – 4x100 relay
Mike Conti (Itasca, Ill., Driscoll Catholic HS) – 4x100 relay
Azizuddin Rose (Chicago, DeLaSalle Institute) – 4x100 relay
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Illinois Wesleyan junior Matt Harden finished second in the 200 and third in the 400 and junior Rachel Anderson finished second in the 400 and sixth in the 200 at the 2007 NCAA Division III outdoor track and field championships in Oshkosh, Wis., on Saturday, May 26.
Harden (O'Fallon, Ill., Township HS) ran his 200 in 21.44 seconds, behind only Willie Hordge of Buffalo State at 21.15 seconds, and had a time of 47.02 seconds in the 400.
Anderson (Clinton, Ill. HS), the defending 400 indoor and outdoor champion, had a 54.80 time, just losing to Amanda Donath of UW-Oshkosh at 54.68. Anderson's 200 time was 25.25 seconds.
In qualifying, Anderson ran a 54.64 in the 400, breaking the J.J. Keller Field record of 55.45, set in 2006 by Nadine Pieske of UW-Oshkosh. Anderson's mark is also an IWU outdoor record.
Junior Cortney Walrath (Peoria, Ill., Central HS) tied for sixth in the pole vault at a height of 11 feet 10 1/2 inches, earning her All-American status.
Junior Segun Olopo (Chicago, Brooks School) was ninth in the 100 with a time of 11.05 seconds and he and Harden teamed with sophomore Mike Conti (Itasca, Ill., Driscoll Catholic HS) and junior Azizuddin Rose (Chicago, DeLaSalle Institute) to place seventh in the 4x100 relay. The team qualified for the finals with a time of 41.37 seconds.
Freshman Chinny Ekwulugo (Saginaw, Texas, W.E. Boswell HS) failed to qualify for the finals of the women's triple jump with her distance of 37 feet-3 inches. The IWU 4x400 relay teams for both men and women failed to qualify for the finals as did the women's 4x100 relay team.
