The main purpose of a Safe Zone program is to visibly mark people and places that are “safe” for gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and trans-gendered (GLBT) students.   The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs (OMSA) identifying itself as a safe zone signifies an affirmation of GLBT people and lets the community know that OMSA is a safe place to approach for support.
