The IWU Jazz Lab Band was begun at the request of students wanting a jazz experience at Illinois Wesleyan without the necessity of an audition.  The band meets once a week and performs once a semester.  The ensemble is available to any campus student without an audition.  Secondary instruments are encouraged in the band, and all music education majors are encouraged to participate to gain jazz experience for their teaching careers.  Students from other majors on campus play side by side with their contemporaries from the School of Music.  The band is directed by Dr. Streeter, and often a student director is chosen to gain experience in front of a working jazz ensemble.
