Q.   Do I have to be a music major or minor to participate in the IWU Titan Pep Band?
A.   No, everyone is welcome to participate.

Q.   What is the instrumentation of the group?
A.  Almost every instrument is needed, including electric bass.  The only two instruments that are not used are oboe and bassoon.

Q.   When are rehearsals?
A.   We rehearse on Wednesday nights from 6:00pm - 6:50pm in room 167 Presser Hall.

Q.   When are the games?
A.   The football games are usually on Saturdays.  The men’s basketball games are usually Wednesday and Saturday nights.  The women's basketball games are generally Tuesday or Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons.

Q.   I would like to play, but I do not own an instrument?
A.   Not a problem.  We do have a limited number of instruments that the School of Music will loan to students at no cost.

Q.  I have an instrument, but I have no place to store it.  What should I do?
A.   Not a problem.  We have some instrument lockers that we loan out to students.  Many students chose to keep instruments in their rooms.

Q.  Is there an attendance policy?
A.  Yes.  During the football season you are allowed to miss either one rehearsal or game for any reason.  During the basketball season you are not allowed to miss any games.  We divide into two basketball bands.  If you are scheduled to play and have a conflict, you can ask someone in the other band to sub for you.

Q.  What if I already took my one absence and an emergency comes up beyond my control?
A.   Please talk to the director to work something out.  We understand that unexpected situations may occur.

Q.  Is there a uniform?
A.   Yes - a t-shirt and jeans.  All band members will need to buy a t-shirt at the beginning of the season.  It will cost approximately $10.00.  You can use the shirt every season while at IWU.
