School of Music Pre-college Instruction

Summer Music Camps

The School of Music offers a number of summer music camps to young musicians, in high school and junior high, who wish to participate in intensive musical training including the annual Cello Camp and Chamber Music Camp.

Summer Music Composition Institute/Camp

The Summer Composition Institute/Camp is intended for high school students, including graduating seniors, who are interested in composing music. The only prerequisite is a reading knowledge of music notation.

Preparatory Department

The Illinois Wesleyan Preparatory Piano Department offers piano instruction for pre-college level students from pre-school through 12th grade. Students are given instruction in keyboard skills, music theory, traditional piano technique and repertoire through a combination of individual and group lessons. Recitals are planned periodically.

The Preparatory String Program for students pre-K through 12th grade features class and individual violin, viola and cello instruction.  Recitals are planned at the end of fall and spring term.

Community string players are encouraged to inquire about becoming a part of the orchestra in its service to the Bloomington/Normal community.
