Examples of Accountability at IWU

Illinois Wesleyan University is affiliated with the National Association of Independent College and Universities (NAICU).  Since 2003, NAICU has supported a website that catalogs various ways that independent colleges respond to external constituencies' desire for information.    Illinois Wesleyan is pleased to contribute several examples to NAICU's efforts.

Common Data Set and Fact Book links provide current and historical data on such things as graduation rates; graduates' employment and graduate/professional school attendance; first-year retention; faculty, staff, and student demographics; class size; and endowment, budgets, and other financial information.

Also of interest are links to an Assessment Plan Summary (IWU's full plan is more than 20 pages in length) and an assessment matrix that details the multiple ways the IWU faculty and staff assess curricular programs and students' learning and experiences throughout their time at the University.    A final series of links to IWU's most recent reports to the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) shows how we contribute to the Illinois Commitment, a set of goals for higher education in Illinois.   The College Quest program was highlighted by the IBHE in Fall 2006 as an exemplary practice within the state.

Questions about this site or other assessment and accountability practices at IWU should be directed to Dr. Michael D. Thompson, Assistant Provost and Director of Institutional Research and Planning, at at 309/556-3760.
