School of Nursing

Stevenson Hall

If you enroll in the School of Nursing at Illinois Wesleyan University, you are a student of the university who happens to be majoring in nursing. In the program of study over four years, once the first year is completed, you will notice that in every semester, you are taking not only nursing courses, but also courses in the liberal arts. It is a very strong philosophy of the School of Nursing that you will blend the liberal arts with this professional program.

Emma Benjamin, class of 2010, talks about her first year at IWU:

"I was impressed by the fact that the nursing program, and the director, really support the freshmen, and make sure that our needs are met, even though we are not yet taking nursing classes.  The upperclass nursing students are very friendly and welcoming.  Through classes, stydying, and Freshman Forum, I feel that our class of nursing students has become close and unified, something that is unique to Illinois Wesleyan.  Even as a freshman, I have been continually amazed by how much the nursing program, and the faculty, care about our success as students, and as human beings."

Admissions for nursing students at Illinois Wesleyan is unlike many universities. First-year students have direct admission to the School of Nursing. Once enrolled, no further application is necessary.
