Kickboxing

Monday / Sunday

 M: 7:45-8:30 p.m. / Sun: 8:15-9:00 p.m.

Shirk Practice Gym

This 1-hour class is a fun, effective way to improve both muscular and cardiovascular endurance. Punches, kicks, boxing drills, and combinations will make up the majority of the class and will be followed by a short flexibility routine. “Box” is an effective stress reliever regardless of fitness level.

Cycle

Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday / Saturday 

T: 7:00-7:45a.m. / W: 11:15-Noon / Th: 7:15-8:00p.m. / Sat. 10:30-11:15a.m.

Shirk South Classroom

Cycle is a continuous interval cardio class that builds muscle strength, power, and endurance. Participants are led through challenging intervals set to motivating music. Cycle is sure to keep you feeling strong, and coming back for more.

Yoga

Monday

8:45-9:45 p.m.

Shirk South Classroom

Yoga will teach the basic postures in a style that is gentle enough for newcomers, satisfying for those with more experience and modifiable to meet individual needs. The practice of breath-work, relaxation, and simple meditation will also be explored.

Total Body Conditioning (TBC)

Thursday

8:15-9:15p.m.

Practice Gym

TBC is a well-rounded workout designed to improve all aspects of fitness including muscular strength, endurance, balance, and agility.  Working out all the major muscle groups from the arms all the way to the calves, this class uses an array of equipment as well as participants body weight to provide a quick, efficient workout.  All exercises and routines will be graded and modified to suit the needs of beginners to advanced exercisers.  Come early, as equipment is limited. 

Tai Chi

Saturday

9:00-10:00 a.m.

Quad or Activity Center

Tai Chi is meditation in motion. This ancient Chinese martial art is a blend of exercise, meditation and self-defense.  Tai Chi also offers an opportunity to master a lifelong form of exercise with benefits that extend beyond the physical.

TKD Fitness

Tuesday/Saturday

T: 9:30-10:30p.m.  / Sat.: 6:00-7:00p.m.

Shirk Practice Gym

This class will integrate the martial art of Tae Kwon Do into a challenging total body workout. The instructor will use body weight movements, agility drills, punches, kicks, and a variety of other exercises to create a well rounded martial arts based workout. 

Hip Hop/Jazz

Wednesday

7:15-8:00 p.m.

Shirk Practice Gym

Like to dance? Hip-Hop/ Jazz provides an exciting way to keep in motion while combining both Jazz and Hip-Hop dance styles and even a little style of your own.  This instructional class will offer participants at every level from beginner to advanced an opportunity to learn the basics of both the Hip-Hop and Jazz styles of dance in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.   Easy stretching, upbeat dances, combinations, and even some interesting partner work will be included! .

Core

Sun.: 7:15-8:00p.m.

Shirk Practice Gym

This one-hour class targets the muscles of the abdominal wall, lower back, hips, and glutes.  The goal is to stabilize and strengthen your body’s “power core” where most movement originates.  This class is perfect for students of all levels who want to better their athletic performance, enhance their fitness levels and functional capacity, or improve their posture. 

Step and Core

Wednesday

8:15-9:15p.m.

Practice Gym

This 60-minute action packed class will keep you going with great movement patterns and then work on developing that all important core strength.  Modifications will be offered to accommodate all levels of experience.
