IWU Madrid Program
| Offered during the spring semester each year, the IWU Madrid Program allows 16-24 IWU students to study at the Fundación José Ortega y Gasset and to live with host families in Madrid. Students take one course with the Madrid Program director, an IWU faculty member -- in 2008, Professor Diego Mendez-Carbajo -- and select their other 3 classes from those offered by the Fundación. | ![]() |
Spanish proficiency is not required, and students will be able to utilize Madrid resources including the Prado museum in their coursework. Madrid Program classes are pre-approved for General Education credit and may also satisfy requirements toward the major or minor with the permission of the department chair. Courses are designed to take advantage of Madrid's cultural resources and the program features educational excursions outside Madrid, which vary each year but may include Toledo, Barcelona, or Andalucia.
