Saturday, October 28, 2006 is the national day for doing good. The IWU Student Volunteer Center will provide students with opportunities to make a difference in our community.
---------------------
2006 Make A Difference Day
Volunteer activities will be divided into two sessions. One session will be held on-campus, where students can roll out of bed and walk over to the Hansen Student Center to volunteer their time. The second session will be held off-campus, where students will use their skills around the Bloomington-Normal community. Students are welcome to participate in one or both sessions. T-shirts will be available to volunteers on a first-come first-served basis. Volunteers for Session #2 are guaranteed a shirt, and they must register (CLICK HERE) ahead-of-time.
Session #1 (Morning)
In the Hansen Student Center, various community organizations will provide hands-on work for students. There is no need to register for Session #1. Simply show up and help out!
Session #2 (Afternoon)
Option A: Stormwater Stenciling
Students will meet outside the front doors of the Hansen Student Center at 1pm. Transportation will be provided to a local neighborhood, where we will be using stencils to spray-paint “Drains to Streams, Keep it Clean” near storm water drains. Students will also be hanging informational flyers on the residents' doors. This option will last approximately 2 hours, and students will return to campus by 4pm, at the latest. If you would like to participate in this Option, please click HERE and fill out the form.
Option B: Humane Society of Central Illinois
Students will meet outside the front doors of the Hansen Student Center at 1pm. Transportation will be provided to the Humane Society, where we will provide various services to benefit our furry little friends. This option will last approximately 2 hours, and students will return to campus by 4pm, at the latest. If you would like to participate in this Option, please click HERE and fill out the form.
