Four Titans Named to All-Conference First Team in Women’s Soccer

Four Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer players were chosen to the first team of the all-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin squads and three more earned second team honors in voting by league coaches on Tues., Nov. 15.

Senior Katie Kelly (Wheaton, Wheaton-Warrenville South HS) and juniors Katie Korder (Urbana HS), Ashley Goergen (Geneva HS) and Lyndsay O'Brien (Peoria, Notre Dame HS) were first team honorees while seniors Mary Karson (St. Charles, East HS) and Brittany Kirkpatrick (Lakeview, Minn., HS) joined freshman Caroline Leighton (Bloomington, Normal Community HS) on the second team.

Kelly was a first team selection for the fourth straight season while Korder and Goergen were named to the first team for the first time.

In CCIW games only, Kirkpatrick was fifth with 10 points and Leighton was tied for ninth with six points.  Kirkpatrick was fourth with five goals and Leighton was eighth with three. O’Brien, a second team selection in 2003 and 2004, was second in the league with .43 assists per game.

The Titans were 13-7-1 and 5-2 in the league and were the first IWU soccer team to be selected for play in an NCAA Division III tournament.
