IWU Lands Four on all-CCIW Team

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. —Four Illinois Wesleyan volleyball players were chosen to the all-league teams in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin by league coaches.

Senior Jenna Passananti was a repeat choice as a first team member and sophomore Katie Butson was also chosen to the second team for the second straight year. Earning honorable mention were junior Michelle Malinowksi and senior Ashley Reed.

Passananti, a 5-foot-9 setter from Western Springs (LaGrange Lyons HS), was also selected to the CCIW all-tournament team. A second team all-CCIW player as a freshman and sophomore, she finished second in the league statistics with 11.73 assists per game and tied for fourth with .5 service aces per game.

A 5-11 outside hitter from Troy, Ohio (Christian HS), Butson was second in conference play with 4.42 kills per game. She was a CCIW “Player of the Week” once earlier this fall.

Malinowski, a 6-0 outside hitter from Shorewood (Providence Catholic HS) was ninth in the conference with 3.08 kills per game and also ninth with a .255 hitting percentage.

Reed, a 5-foot-3 libero from Lemont (HS), was third with 5.62 defensive digs per game against the league and tied for seventh with .42 service aces per game. She was also a CCIW “Player of the Week” once earlier this fall.

Kelly Bauer of league champion Carthage was “Player of the Year” while the Lady Reds’ Leanne Ulmer repeated as "Coach of the Year."

The Titans finished with a 20-17 overall record and were 3-4 in the CCIW, tying for fourth place.
