The Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball season came to an end with an 86-59 loss to Carroll (Wis.) in the first round of the NCAA Division III tournament in Decorah, Iowa. The Titans (22-6) got 21 points from sophomore Mallory Heydorn and 16 points and a team-high seven rebounds from junior Thea Rogers but managed only 1-of-14 in 3-point shooting and shot .385 (25 of 65) from the floor. The Lady Pioneers (advancing with a 22-4 record) outscored IWU, 48-27, in the second half and shot .653 from the field in the game (32 of 49). Go here for complete box score.

Game Notes for March 2-3 NCAA Tournament

February 26
Illinois Wesleyan (22-5) will face Carroll [Wis.] (21-4) in the first round of the NCAA Division III women's basketball tournament at 6 p.m. on Fri., March 2 in Decorah, Iowa. The host school, Luther (22-4) will play Concordia [Wis.] (23-3) at 8 p.m. in the other first round game with the winners to meet at 7 p.m. on Sat., March 3.
Tickets for the event are $6 for adults and $3 for students with ID and senior citizens. Children under 2 are admitted free,
IWU, a pool C (at-large) selection, is in the 63-team NCAA tournament for the first time since 2003. IWU finished second in both the regular season and tournament phases of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.
Historically, Illinois Wesleyan has a 1-3 record in NCAA Division III play, also participating in 1995 and 1996 and going 1-1 in 2003.
IWU and Carroll met 13 times between 1985 and 1992 when the Pioneers were also members of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and Carroll won every game. It would be the first meeting between Illinois Wesleyan and Concordia (Wis.) and/or Luther.
