Philosophy & Your Professional Future

Majoring or minoring in philosophy is an excellent preparation for graduate and professional study. In fact, philosophy is recommended as one of the best preparations for the GRE and LSAT examinations.

Recent philosophy students have been admitted to philosophy graduate programs at such prestigious institutions as MIT, University of Michigan and the University of Illinois. Others have gone on to highly competitive graduate programs in English (Irvine) and musicology (Florida State). Our students have been admitted to such top laws schools as the University of Michigan Law School and Yale Law school.

Of course, philosophy graduates are not limited to careers as college level instructors or lawyers. Recent alumni include the regional director of the Drug Enforcement Agency in St. Louis, an editor for a publishing firm in Florida and a director of an environmental program in Chicago. The philosophy faculty will work closely with you in helping you decide what career to pursue.
